"Well, of course, you wouldn't think of yourself as a force of evil, either." she explained mildly, crossing her legs and looking away. "Just as we think of ourselves as not bad, but good."

"I guess it makes sense." he grumbled, wondering just how Nel could be so calm in such a time. She had just been healed, just returned to adulthood, and she seemed so--so smart.

"Ichigo, let me try to explain this to you. If the shinigami kill off every last hollow, the balance will break. The balance between good and evil that must exist will be gone, and for good to exist, there must be evil, correct?" she tapped her finger on her knee absently, seeming to forget that she was garbed in little more than rags.

"So what happens when this balance breaks? Then there's a whole lotta good, or a whole lotta evil, right?"

"No." she turned her head to the side, eying the others, Yachiru who was perched high atop Kenpachi's shoulder, Orihime off in the distance seeing to the others, broken towers crumbling all around them, and Ulquiorra descending from one himself.

"For the world to continue, the balance must be kept. There must be good, and there must be evil. Certainly not extremes, such as what has happened in this circumstance, but something lesser. They cannot kill off all of the hollows. There must be a reason for us to exist, don't you think?" she asked softly.

"I still don't quite get it."

She sighed softly, her chest sinking with the exhalation. "It has not been established who is good, and who is evil. Neither side can prevail, this battle is pointless. There is no reason for them to fight, for they are simply trying to prove who is stronger--the Soul Society, or Hueco Mundo. The only thing that is at stake here are the innocent lives of the people of your town.

"Saving the world from having Aizen Sosuke as King of Soul Society is merely a guise for them to showcase just how strong they think they have become. If they make fools of themselves, he gets the key. If they prevail, Aizen will surely find another way to create the Ouken." she hunched forward. "You know, now is not the time to be discussing such things."

"Dammit, you're right but--what the hell else can we do?"

"Sit. You may be here for quite a while." Neliel patted the quartz log beside her, and with a sigh, Ichigo sat beside her.

"Aren't the others going to wonder where we are, Nel?"

"Let them. If they are really that curious, they'll join us." Neliel reasoned, and he shrugged.

"So you think Aizen'll be able to make that key no matter what happens?"

"You should not underestimate his genius. If he cannot do it himself, he will find someone else to fool into doing it for him." she stated. "He has--or had--the espada at his disposal, and he still has numerous arrancar and hollow at his fingertips." Neliel's eyes shifted to Ichigo. "He is a virtuoso in his own right."

"You really think so?"

"We probably know him far better than anyone in the Soul Society. I know so. And yet, there are many facets of his personality lying undiscovered." she sniffed, folding her arms across her chest. "You underestimate him if you believe that you can beat him."

"What?" Ichigo sprung to his feet. "What the hell are you saying, Nel?"

"Listen. He is the kind of man who will destroy his own ranks if it suits him. He toys with them, they are nothing more than machines to do his bidding. He will let them kill each other, he will let them destroy one another, for he simply does not care, as long as there are ten espada, and for a while, there were." she scoffed. "He is the kind of man who does not pause to think before killing.

"Aizen Sosuke is a psychopath, but a powerful one who may get away with such acts. Thus, he is worshiped by some, and merely followed by others. If you are caught in his path, he will not hesitate to destroy you before continuing on." she tapped her chin. "I am not saying, in any way, that you are weak. Quite the opposite, indeed. It was you who helped me, and protected me, and I really must thank you for that." she smiled gently, then sighed again, her face falling.

"Thought you already did."

"I failed to finish what I began. It's--nothing that needs to be spoken of." she paused, uncrossed her legs, and rose. "Come, we should join the others." With that, the discussion was closed.
I don't know why I wrote this, the first line just kind of...came into my head, and the rest just kind of mutated from that. Let me know if Ichigo and Neliel are in character! I tried to make them such.

It's basically just a scene from after Ichigo and Ulquiorra's fight, with me trying to keep the winner under wraps, with no hints on it whatsoever, of a short, quiet moment, where Neliel can do some explaining to Ichigo on everything, and why things should be left the way they are. I might add more to it, but I'm not sure. Augh, me and random plots.

Aw that was so cute in a way yet so epic in another! I love Neliel and think she desperatly needs more screen time.
